What an incredible day! We celebrate the death and resurrection of Jesus every Sunday morning (through our communion service) at my church but on this day each year we celebrate his birth. What a birthday party we'd plan if he were still living in bodily form here on this earth. At least I'd hope that we would.
Our way of celebrating his birth is very different than most birthday parties :-) We don't usually sing "Happy Birthday" to him or give Him presents but we instead give each other presents, which I think is fantastic but does this make any sense or are we just falling into the consumerism of our culture?
I know as a family we spent way too much this Christmas on our 3 kids. It was an incredible morning filled with lots of laughs, and smiles, and "thank you's" but are we teaching our kids any important lessons by giving them so much? Or are we doing the opposite?
When my kids get everything they want and more for Christmas does that make a good parent or a bad one?
Enough pondering, it's my turn now to get on the balance board of our new Wii to play Penguin Slide!
Merry Christmas!
