My wife got me to listen to this last night and I have to say it's a great song and a great message especially for a dad of two girls (one of which will be considered a tween soon) and as a middle school teacher. My students need to hear this message (at least the girls do). Our culture (starting with the media) really pushes women of all ages to second guess their bodies and in so doing causes many women to take drastic measures and hyper-focus on their outside appearance. We read over and over in scripture that God cares about what's inside a person.
Also, we read from The Message in Psalm 139,
13-16 "Oh yes, you shaped me first inside, then out;
you formed me in my mother's womb.
I thank you, High God—you're breathtaking!
Body and soul, I am marvelously made!
I worship in adoration—what a creation!
You know me inside and out,
you know every bone in my body;
You know exactly how I was made, bit by bit,
how I was sculpted from nothing into something.
Like an open book, you watched me grow from conception to birth;
all the stages of my life were spread out before you,
The days of my life all prepared
before I'd even lived one day.
And in Matthew 6 we read, 25"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? 26Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life[b]?
28"And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? 31So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' 32For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own."
Please watch both the MEANING and the MUSIC VIDEO. As Johnny relays in the first video, "According to God you were created with a purpose in mind and therefore there could never be a more beautiful you."
