Lecrae - Background

The following has been reposted from October 13, 2010. To see more from Lecrae check out this interview from Sept 27 as well as a few of my new favorite songs including some great cuts from Gravity: Tell the World and the title track Gravity. You might also want to check out Lecrae's I am Second video.

Previous Post:
Lecrae quickly became a new favorite when I first heard "Jesus Muzik" several years ago. My students loved it to. So through the last few years I've gone from Jesus Muzik to Don't Waste Your Life to now Background. Great artist who's intelligent in his faith and a warrior for Christ.

"Lead me, LORD, in your righteousness because of my enemies—make your way straight before me." Psalm 5:8 (emphasis mine)

"The LORD is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake." Psalm 23:1-3 (emphasis mine)

"How can a young person stay on the path of purity? By living according to your word." Psalm 119:9 (emphasis mine)

"After this, Jesus and his disciples went out into the Judean countryside, where he spent some time with them, and baptized. Now John also was baptizing...They came to John and said to him, “Rabbi, that man who was with you on the other side of the Jordan—the one you testified about look, he is baptizing, and everyone is going to him.”...He must become greater; I must become less.” John 3:22-30 (emphasis mine)

"...put no confidence in the fleshthough I myself have reasons for such confidence. If someone else thinks they have reasons to put confidence in the flesh, I have more: circumcised on the eighth day, of the people of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of Hebrews; in regard to the law, a Pharisee; as for zeal, persecuting the church; as for righteousness based on the law, faultless. But whatever were gains to me I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord...Philippians 3:1-11 (emphasis mine)

I WANT TO BE [IN] THE BACKGROUND. How about you?
