There are a handful of songs that I remember from being a kid and attending PCC (PA Christian Camp) every year. "Cast Your Burdens" is one of them. You remember that one right?
Cast your burdens, unto Jesus, 'cause he cares for you (x2)
Higher, higher, higher... lift Jesus higher
Lower, lower, lower... push Satan lower
Wider, wider, wider... spread the Gospel wider
Fire, fire, fire... Holy Ghost on fire
Cast your burdens, unto Jesus, 'cause he cares for you (x2)
For some reason that song just got stuck in my head. When I hear this song by Needtobreathe it takes me back to campfires, softball games, eating in the mess hall, late night cabin wars, and devotionals on top of the mountain. It takes me back to a simpler time when life wasn't so complicated. Oh, I made it complicated but in retrospect it was indeed pretty simple and I was relatively carefree. To be honest, that's the way we're supposed to live life. Maybe not carefree but surely anxiety free. I deal with anxiety on a daily basis but I am not to allow life to beat me. Read these scriptures and enjoy this video. What a great band and an incredibly simple (but Biblical) song.
1 Peter 5:7 tells us to, "cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you."
Jesus instructs us in Matthew 11:28-30, "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light."
Lastly in Philippians 4:6-7, "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."
