Britt Nicole - The Lost Get Found

How many around us are hurting? How many just need an attentive ear? A shoulder to cry on? A place to stay for the night? A meal? A bottle of water? And how many times are we in our own world (fulfilling our own desires) and unaware of these folks?

We avert our eyes. We stop listening. We turn the channel. We close the web site. It's easier that way.

But is that what God calls us to?

If I remember right, in the parable of the Good Samaritan he stops to help the man in need and doesn't walk past. As a church, we too often walk past those that are hurting. Stop and listen. Put yourself in their shoes. What if you were the one staying in the extended stay hotel because you couldn't afford the 1st and last months rent. What if your kids were eating out of vending machines instead of healthy meals in the home? What if your car was broken down? What if you were the one really hurting?

Wouldn't you want someone to come to your aide?

I sure would.

When I hear the phrase "the lost get found" I think of the lost coin, lost sheep, and prodigal son. What a great picture to see our Creator as a widow searching for her coin until she finds it, a shepherd leaving the 99 and looking for the 1 missing sheep, or the father waiting his rebellious sons return. You can read more about these parables in Luke 15.
