Josh Wilson - I Refuse

I don't know about you but most of the time I am pretty self-centered. I think about me. I think about my needs and desires. I think about food...for me. I think about clothes...for me. I think about new tires for...my car. I think about fixing up...my house. Me, me, me. Sometimes I think about someone else...my family. My wife. My 3 kids. My parents. My brother or sister. Again, me, me, me.

When do I step out and help someone else? Someone who can't repay me. Someone who is really in need. I believe that the Gospel should compel us to step out on faith and serve our fellow man. We should feel a strong desire to put our faith into action. To show the love of Christ.
James 2 instructs us in this way,

"What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them? Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food.16 If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.
But someone will say, “You have faith; I have deeds.”
Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by my deeds."

As our small group at my church is working through the ideas in David Platt's 'Radical Together' I found that this video fits our study very well indeed and wanted to share it with them as well as all my students in class. I hope it also blesses you today.

Savior Please

Josh Wilson is one of those new guys on the Christian Music scene that just has something a little bit different than the others. I think you'll like what you hear.

Honestly, if I can be candid with you, in my lifetime there have not been that many times where I had to completely rely on God’s power. I feel heretical to even share this song (and it’s lyrics) but in my heart this is what I feel. I rely on myself way too much and need to be reminded that I am not strong enough or tough enough. I can’t do it alone. I need God to hold on to me. It really hits me when Josh says, “I try to be good enough” because that’s where I find myself a lot of times. Trying to be “good enough” when I know very well that I can’t ever be “good” enough.
I could listen to this song over and over again just to admit my imperfection. I live as if I don’t need a Savior when in fact I desperately need him and his saving grace.
May these words penetrate your heart and cause you to fall to your knees and admit you need a Savior too.

Lyrics:
Savior, please take my hand
I work so hard, I live so fast
This life begins, and then it ends
And I do the best that I can, but I don't know how long I'll last

I try to be so tough
But I'm just not strong enough
I can't do this alone, God I need You to hold on to me
I try to be good enough
But I'm nothing without Your love
Savior, please keep saving me

Savior, please help me stand
I fall so hard, I fade so fast
Will You begin right where I end
And be the God of all I am because You're all I have

Hallelujah
Everything You are to me
Is everything I'll ever need
And I am learning to believe
That I don't have to prove a thing
'Cause You're the one who's saving me
